Final Higher Education Relief Funds Update
The CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) has provided funding to institutions to provide emergency financial aid grants to students whose lives have been disrupted because of COVID-19. Warner Pacific University received and distributed $389,103.
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) was signed into law on December 27, 2020 authorizing additional HEERF funds to colleges and universities. Warner Pacific University received and distributed $389,103.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) was signed into law on March 11, 2021 and authorized additional HEERF funds for colleges and universities to distribute to their students. Warner Pacific University received and distributed $1,192,340 to students.
The sole purpose of this federal funding was to provide emergency financial assistance grants to student for their educational expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child-care expenses. Provided below is an update of this funding:
- An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) and (a)(4) of the CARES Act, CRRSA Act and ARP Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
Warner Pacific University signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and intends to use the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) and (a)(4)of the CARES Act, CRRSA Act and ARP Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

- The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. The estimated total number of students at the institution that are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
Approximately 564 students at WPU are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Approximately 724 students at WPU were eligible for grants under the CRRSA Act which removed the requirement for students to not be fully enrolled in online programs prior to March 20, 2020.
Approximately 760 students at WPU were eligible for grants under the ARP Act which removed the restriction for students who didn’t meet citizenship and eligible non-citizen requirements under CARES and CRRSAA at the time of disbursement.
- The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
